Orchestra Level Jump Audition Requirements
Violin and Viola Level Jump Audition Requirements:
Students who are interested in jumping a level must have an invitation from their instrumental techniques teacher. Level 1 violins and violas should be invited by Mr. Sheary. Students are only allowed to jump one level from their current placement.
Auditions for level jumps will take place during instrumental techniques time. Level 1 violin/viola students will have to schedule an audition with Mr. Sheary. For cello and bass level jump requirements, please speak with Mr. Yucra.
Violin/Viola requirements to move from Level 1 to Level 2
Successful completion of Level 1 Orchestra and Instrumental Techniques with a B or higher on all playing tests.
Violin/Viola requirements to move from Level 2 to Level 3
Successful completion of Level 2 Instrumental Techniques with a B or higher on all playing tests.
Level Jump Audition from Level 1 into Level 3:
Violin Scales: G, A, C, and D Major Scale and Arpeggio with shifting fingering
Viola Scales: C, D, F, and G Major Scale and Arpeggio with shifting fingering

Violin/Viola requirements to move from Level 3 to Level 4
Successful completion of Level 3 Instrumental Techniques with a B or higher on all playing tests.
Level Jump Audition from Level 2 into Level 4:
Violin Scales: D Major Scale and Arpeggio with shifting fingering and F Major Scale and Arpeggio with required fingering. Starting in 2nd position and shift up to 5th.
Viola Scales: G Major Scale and Arpeggio with shifting fingering and Bb Major Scale and Arpeggio with required fingering. Starting in 2nd position and shift up to 5th.
